Basel old city tour including the visit of the Kunstmuseum
Meeting point : to be announced
Join us on a journey back through the ages. There can be few other cityscapes where buildings dating back as far as the fifteenth century engage so harmoniously and vibrantly with the contemporary creations of internationally distinguished architects. On our walking tour, we’ll tell you facts and anecdotes about Basel while passing historic buildings such as the Town Hall, the Basel Cathedral (Münster) and the Barfüsserkirche. As well as taking you to some picturesque corners of the Old Town, we’ll show you places that closely reflect Basel’s present-day Zeitgeist, such as the Museum der Kulturen and the Tinguely fountain.
Basel, a city of art: Enjoy the opportunity to visit the Kunstmuseum Basel https://kunstmuseumbasel.ch.
The museum has a rich collection and hosts international loan exhibitions in three buildings. The Main Building (Hauptbau) on St. Alban-Graben was inaugurated in 1936. In April 2016 a new building (Neubau) built by the local architects Christ & Gantenbein was inaugurated across the street. After an introduction to the architecture and highlights of the collection and exhibitions like The cosmos of Cubism: from Picasso to Léger. There is enough time to see the art at your own pace.
6pm : Welcome EAHIL Reception at the Wildt’sches Haus am Petersplatz.
